Brian BensonBrian Benson - Michigan Land ManagerBrian Benson started working for Western Land Services, Inc in 1996 as a Staff Landmen acquiring oil and gas leases, rights-of-way, ratifications, and curative documents for multiple clients in Northern Michigan. Most weeks, he was one of the top leasing agents for Western. In 1999, Benson relocated to our Wyoming office as Permit Coordinator, responsible for all CMS Oil and Gas Company’s Powder River Basin Drilling and Air Quality Permits issued by the State of Wyoming. He created a strong and effective working relationship with the various Regulatory Agencies in the State of Wyoming. Responsible for obtaining the timely issuance of over 700 drilling permits. Currently, Benson is a Senior Manager and Michigan Land Manager for Western overseeing land staff, working with clients, serving as a liaison between contractors and the client, and utilizing land and operation efforts to make projects more cost efficient. Management duties include overseeing land staff involved in take-offs, leasing, abstracting, well staking, site release negotiations, flowline route identification, rights-of-way acquisition, 3D seismic permitting, division order/curative, and contract negotiations. He currently works closely with clients to develop oil prospects, deep and shallow gas prospects, and wind energy prospects. |

Shawn BurdShawn Burd - Senior Manager - Rockies RegionShawn Burd has been a key team member at Western Land Services since 2001. He has worked in Wyoming, Kansas, Colorado, Michigan, North Dakota and Utah, and is currently the General Manager of the Richfield, Utah office. Since early 2004, Burd has led seismic permitting efforts and operations along with regulatory, reporting and permitting of many oil & gas wells. Shawn, along with his staff, works closely with the Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service, School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA), the State of Utah’s Division of Oil, Gas and Mining, Division of Wildlife Resources, and Division of Water Rights. Burd's background in ranching, farming and forestry has helped him to better understand landowner and agency concerns, therefore, aiding in the efficient planning of oil, gas and geophysical projects on their property and to the benefit of the client. In addition, Burd coordinates with geophysical and Geothermal contractors in planning, permitting, and developing federal and private projects in compliance with NEPA requirements. He currently oversees the acquisition of oil & gas leases, Right-of-Way agreements, regulatory and private landowner permits, allowing contractors to conduct timely operations. He has recently concluded efforts in support of geophysical programs covering nearly 400 linear miles in central Utah and has helped in planning, permitting and developing what has been referred to as "one of the largest oil discoveries in the United states." Burd graduated from the University of Montana in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry – Natural Resources Management with an emphasis in wild land fire management. |

Rich KintziRichard Kintzi - General Manager - Western DivisionRichard Kintzi works on behalf of Western Land Services clients with the Bureau of Land Management, Department of Environmental Quality, Unites States Fish and Wildlife Services and the Army Corps of Engineers for the planning and permitting of Federal Coal Bed Natural Gas Projects. He has planned 19 federal projects totaling 954 wells within Campbell, Johnson and Sheridan Counties, Wyoming; currently, he is working on three federal projects in Campbell County totaling 386 wells. Kintzi works with operators and landowners to plan federal projects that meet the clients' needs and timelines while addressing landowner concerns and fulfilling the NEPA process. He further oversees the resulting staking of federal projects for compliance and efficiency purposes. Kintzi coordinates efforts among landowners, operators and the regulatory authorities throughout the permitting process to shepherd plans of development through the regulatory maze. Kintzi holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wyoming; he is a member of the Wyoming and Montana Association of Professional Landmen. |

Denny BitemanDenny Biteman - Regional Land ManagerDenny Biteman has over 25 years of experience as an oil, gas, and mining landman in mineral resources land management. He is the Western Division Regional Land Manager for Western Land Services. He has worked on or managed projects for oil, gas, and mining companies in Wyoming, Montana, Utah and other western states, as well as, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma and North Carolina. For over fifteen years, Biteman worked as a contract land consultant for mining companies. His clients included two of the world’s largest mining firm, BHP-Billiton and Rio Tinto (through its US subsidiary, Kennecott Exploration), as well as, Dow Chemical Company and several junior oil, gas, and mining companies. He has managed lease acquisition projects covering hundreds of thousands of acres of private lands. He has experience in title searches, property acquisition, property management, and project management. He has participated in state and federal oil and gas lease auctions, obtained federal prospecting permits, and overseen claim staking projects. Biteman has managed the preparation of plans of development for coal bed methane projects under federal leases. He has testified before the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and the Montana Board of Oil and Gas Conservation on matters pertaining to permitting and plans of development. |

Jason LevanenJason Levanen - Registered Land SurveyorJason Levanen has experience working on all aspects of a project; he has performed section line retracement and remonumentation, boundary survey subdivision surveying and design, survey research, road construction staking and CAD Mapping. At Western Land Services, Levanen works with Coal Bed Methane Projects; he has been extensively involved in the surveying and design process of reservoir facilities which includes the initial survey for design and permitting, staking for construction and as-built surveys after the facilities are completed. Other surveying efforts include route surveying for pipeline easements and design, staking methane well locations, conducting topographic surveys and staking for engineered well pads and roads. Levanen has over 14 years of experience in land surveying; he is a Registered Land Surveyor in Colorado, Michigan, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. He is also a certified federal surveyor. Levanen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Land Surveying and an A.A.S. in Civil Engineering Technology from Michigan Technological University. |
